Mini miracles!!

 Jan 18, 2021

Hello everybody!!

I hope you all had a wonderful week!!

This week was full of miracles! It is amazing to see how God works in the details of our lives.

Gray dots- So because we can't go out tracting, we do a lot of phone calls to find people. Sometimes we will just call random numbers in the area, but we will also call numbers in our area book. The ones in our area book a lot of the time are people who haven't been taught in a while, were too busy, or not interested at the time. So one night we were calling a whole bunch of these people, and we weren't having a whole lot of success. Then right at the end, we called a number and they literally answered going "Hey Sisters!!!" We thought we had accidently called a member haha. We talked with them and turns out they had been found right before Covid happened and so they were never able to do anything with the old missionaries. Then they pretty much invited us over to their house for Sunday so we could worship together. It was amazing! We spent so much time talking about God and Christ and how important they are to our lives. They already have such strong beliefs in God and Christ! We are so glad that we were led to find them!

Food Cravings- We have a less active member that we have been working with. He has struggled to build his faith because when he gets into a habit of reading or praying all the bad things start happening. We've tried to help him see that God is there helping him through those trials and not the one punishing him with trials. Well Saturday we got a text from him saying that he had a miracle at work. It was the exact thing he needed to let him know that God wants to bless him. We were so happy!!

K- K in general is a miracle. We had an incredibly powerful lesson with her on Wednesday. Because of her anxiety, she will fidget a lot. During the lesson, Sister Crandell was able to say the exact thing that she needed to hear, and she was all of a sudden still. The Spirit was so strong, and we were able to testify that God wants us to feel that peace. God does know us and remember us. On Sunday she came to church again. She was pretty nervous again and fidgeting, BUT during the Sacrament, she was still. I love the peace the gospel can bring. It is through the Spirit and because of Christ's Atonement that we are able to feel that peace.

Scripture Study- I love personal study! It has become one of my favorite parts of my mission. The other day I was just reading through the Book of Mormon. And I came across Mosiah 10:10-11

"10 And it came to pass that we did go up to battle against the Lamanites; and I, even I, in my old age, did go up to battle against the Lamanites. And it came to pass that we did go up in the strength of the Lord to battle.

11 Now, the Lamanites knew nothing concerning the Lord, nor the strength of the Lord, therefore they depended upon their own strength. Yet they were a strong people, as to the strength of men."

The phrase "in the strength of the Lord" really hit me. I feel like now especially right at the start of my mission I feel weak. And I know this is not the first time I have felt weak. But knowing I don't have to rely on my own strength, but I can do anything "in the strength of the Lord" brought me comfort. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!! I always try to read one conference talk per day. For whatever reason, I was reminded of a conversation that I had earlier that week with another Elder. He said "Have you read the first talks the Apostles have given? Some of them are amazing!" So during my personal study I thought, "Well I like Elder Bednar, so I'll read his first one." Guess what the title is?!?! The talk is literally called "In the Strength of the Lord"! Miracle!! He talked about the exact thing I was feeling! It was something I needed to be reminded of.

I love that God is always in our lives, and especially in the details. It is through these miracles and tender mercies that we can see the love that God has for us and the people around us.

This isn't a miracle, just a fun story.

Mustaches- An Elder in my district a couple of weeks ago wore a fake mustache to district council under his mask. It caught everyone off guard and we all died. Well this last week, he enlisted the Sister. So he had one and the five Sisters did as well. Everyone completely lost it when they realized we had them, too. I love my district and the fun we have with each other!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
