I didn't know it was the superbowl
February 14, 2022
Hello everybody!
I've been a little MIA lately, but I am doing so good! So here's the update on all the things from the last few weeks!
Being bold with Salvator
We have this friend named Salvator and he has a catholic background. So we have had to be pretty bold with him when teaching, but we have seen so many miracles come from that and he has gained so much understanding. We've taught him about the temple and that the blessings we receive in the temple can ONLY be found there. And we taught that the priesthood can only be found in our church, and there is power when ordinances are done with God's proper authority. He is so eager to learn and come closer to Christ. He told us he knows the Book of Mormon is true this last week so that was huuuge!! And hopefully we are going to get to start teaching his Jewish friends!!
Marcelino!
Wow! Marcelino is amazing! He is getting baptized on the 26th!! He's come to church the last two weeks and loves it. We've been trying to finish teaching him all the commandments this week. When we talked about the Word of Wisdom, we explained that we don't drink coffee and his response was "is hot chocolate ok? Because I'll go to the store and buy some tonight." He was so willing to follow God's commandments because he knows of the blessings that follow. He is the best! And we are so excited for him!!!
Claudia's neighborhood
The other day I woke up and had the strongest impression that we needed to go and visit this certain member. When we got there we realized she wasn't home, so we visited the one person in our area book that was in that neighborhood. She wasn't home either. We talked to their neighbors and they weren't interested and when we walked around, no one wanted to talk with us. We felt a little confused so we decided to pray and felt like we should walk around the neighborhood again. Still no apparent evidence as to why we felt prompted to go to that neighborhood. By the time we left, Sister Pierce and I agreed that sometimes God gives us promptings that might not make a whole lot of sense to see if we will act in faith. Then He will know He can trust us with more promptings in the future.
Pizza with Michael
We got to eat with pizza with our friend Michael! Kind of crazy but it was the first time we had met him in person. We had been teaching him over messenger and he said he wanted to show his appreciation for us. We had a really amazing conversation with him a lot about what we do as missionaries and what we teach. By the end, he told us he wasn't sure he was ready to commit to any particular religion but was willing to take a copy of the Book of Mormon to read and said we could keep in touch! I know God is preparing him for missionaries in the future!
Japanese...twice!
GUYS! I HAVE GOT TO USE JAPANESE TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK!!! The first one was actually some guy that just walked into our sacrament meeting. He asked why my tag was in Japanese and then asked if I spoke Japanese IN JAPANESE and we got to have a little conversation with a member that also speaks Japanese. And then the second was when Sister Pierce and I were out walking by the lakefront talking to people. This really cute old couple walked by and we started chatting. The wife started reading my tag and I said "yeah matsujitsu seito iesu kirisuto kyoukai" and the husband was like "kyoukai?! You're a part of a church?" They weren't really interested but they were so nice! God is so aware of us and how we can make connections with those around us.
Not getting transferred
We had transfers last week and Sister Pierce and I are staying together!!! We are so pumped because there is so much good work going on in this area right now and she is the best!!!
5 at sac!
We had 5 people at sacrament this Sunday! It was so amazing and overwhelming all at the same time haha! Best part....they all loved it! It was so good too especially for the ward because they were able to introduce themselves and see that missionary work is moving forward! I love it when the members and the missionaries work together to help others feel welcome and included!!!
That was a lot! But just know, God is so good and so willing to bless all of His children! I hope you all have the best week ever!!
よし、あいしています!
