I got to shake Elder Holland's hand

September 13, 2021

Hello everybody!

I'm just going to jump right into it because this week was another good one down in Vero!

Yesterday, we had the craziest coolest miracle! Sister Van Holten and our ward mission leader gave talks in Sacrament meeting. After the meeting this man came up to our ward mission leader and said thanks for your talk I cannot wait to be a convert. We later found out, he told his girlfriend he wanted us to come over this week! He has been attending our ward for about 10 months, but has never shown interest in learning more or being baptized. We gave him a call after church and asked if we could stop by later and he said yes with so much enthusiasm! We stopped by and pretty much gave him the baptismal interview without letting him know it was the baptismal interview questions. He killed it, so we said that was the interview and he was ready to get baptized! He started crying and his girlfriend was crying and we were all just so happy for him! He has a baptism scheduled for September 28 and we could not be more excited or more grateful!!!

We also had a pretty cool experience with spiritual promptings this week. We got a text from one of our friends and for some reason, we didn't respond. The next night, we were getting ready for bed and it was about 10:15. I was sitting on my bed and Sister Van Holten was in the kitchen. I had the thought, "you never texted Lee back" when Sister Van Holten got in the room, I told her and she said "No way! I just had the same thought!" So even though it was late, we both felt we needed to text him back. It was amazing to see how we were both given that prompting. Not sure why we weren't prompted earlier in the day, but I believe there was a reason behind it.

Elder Matthew Holland and Elder Michael Dunn and his wife, came and visited our mission this week. They talked about so many things and the Spirit taught me so much. My favorite things were:

-If the Savior were to join our meeting right now what would He say?

-The importance of our purpose and making sure we are always focused on that.

-Time is so important, and we don't have much of it, so we need to make the most of it.

-Diligence! It is more than just working hard. it is being resilient and getting back up again after you get punched in the mouth.

-You cannot take the Book of Mormon lightly! Elder Holland had us read President Benson's "The Book of Mormon-Keystone of Our Religion" talk and I would highly recommend it! Also read the intro and first 12 verses of 1 Nephi! There is so much to learn from it. There is power that comes from the Book of Mormon, I would invite all of you to take time everyday to read from it!

We also met all of our key indicators this week, which are goals we set for how many people we want to find, how many people who attend Sacrament, and people on date. So many miracles happened yesterday, like finding 3 people in one day, that helped us reach all of them!

Such an amazing week! I love you all!
