Sister Cook can't make a straight face

 August 2, 2021

Hello everybody!

This week seriously flew by!

The biggest highlight for me was zone conference! Not only did I get to see some of the missionaries from my last district, we had some really awesome trainings! Our APs talked about talking with everyone and how important it is. They made a really good point that only God knows who is ready and who isn't, not us. Our responsibility is to invite everyone we can, by opening our mouths and talking to everyone we can. It reminded me of a video we watched a couple weeks ago. In the video, they talked about the wheat and the tares and how our only job is to gather because there is only one sifter, Jesus Christ. I'm definitely not the greatest at just going up to random people and starting a conversation, which is why it is comforting as a missionary to know that God is right here with me.

I have learned something pretty interesting on my mission, and especially since serving in Vero. God is really funny when it comes to missionary work. Today in Sunday School, we talked about the word reciprocity and what it means when it comes to the commandments, God, and so on. I have realized that being obedient is an act of faith. There are commandments, and then there are the missionary standards. Some people can look at these and think they are extremely strict and pointless, but I have seen the blessings that have come as I have been obedient to them. But sometimes it is hard to recognize that reciprocity. Being a missionary is really great until no one responds, lessons fall through, and the people you teach become uninterested. That was what this week was full of. It has helped me look at the bigger picture. As we go through these rough patches of missionary work, it can be hard to see where God is reciprocating blessings, but they are there! We are constantly meeting new people, our ward is becoming more involved, we feel greater conversion, and the list goes on!

To sum up this week: you just gotta trust God and do your part.  That's really all He asks. It's hard. But most definitely worth it.

10 fun things

1-The Elders are down to be spontaneous if it means free polar pops.

2-The t-mobile towels aren't great but they were free.

3- Go to the STLs for advice when it comes to writing messages.

4- Claudia is speedy when she has her walker.

5- I do not like driving in Florida rain.

6- Roadtrips are far better when you are face timing the Elders the whole way home.

7- Bishop got a snake this time.

8- Jamaican beef patties are a little spicy.

9- Yolanda loves her books.

10- I made new friends: Hank, Truffles, Leo, and Sassy

I love you all! Have a great week! Keep trusting God!
