We gotta get out of here

July 5, 2021

Hello everybody!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!

Well this week was full of some pretty amazing lessons! Which was good for us, because the week before we didn't end up teaching once the entire week!

We had a lesson with one of our friends named Jordan.   We have been trying to help him gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon and so he has been reading on his own and then we read with him when we meet. This last week, we invited him to say the closing prayer and to ask if it was true and then to sit and ponder and listen for the answer. We probably sat there, arms folded and eyes closed, for a good 5 minutes before he was finished. We asked him how he was feeling, and he said he felt like he heard some things. It was one of those really spiritual moments that helps shape a person's testimony.

We had a bbq with our ward on Saturday and the coolest thing happened! There was a guy named Lee just walking by and everyone was all like come and eat some food, so he sat down and we were able to go over and introduce ourselves. He said that he has been going to lots of different churches and has been having lots of hard things happen recently. We asked him if he would be interested in meeting with us and he said yes! So we had a lesson with him yesterday and in the middle of it, I had the thought, "you should ask him to be baptized" and then the next thing Sister Cook said was "we want to invite you to pray about being baptized" MIND BLOWN! The Spirit was absolutely one that was teaching that lesson!

Something I have learned is that when we teach and we feel the Spirit, we can know that those we are teaching are also feeling the Spirit. With Jordan, we know that when he prayed, he felt the Spirit because we felt it and I couldn't stop smiling because I was feeling it! And we know that Lee felt the Spirit because we did in his lesson, too! We then get to help them recognize that the peace, calm, comfort, etc, that they are feeling is the Spirit!

So when Sister Cook and I first got put together at the beginning in June, we were determined and had the goal to get a baptism by the end of June. Well....June came and went and we didn't end up having a baptism. It was hard for us because we felt like we were working really hard, we were seeing lots of miracles and blessings, and we have so many people that have a desire to come closer to Christ. We asked our district and President Ashcraft and everyone told us that we NEED to get members involved more. So that's our plan for July. Get a member for every single person we are teaching. Members are the biggest support and help when it comes to missionary work. So we are going to have 2 baptisms in July to make up for it! Any and all prayers would be appreciated!

10 things

1-Ant hills just look like piles of dirt.

2-We can finally use our oven again!

3-We are good at making brownies but not delivering them.

4-Picking miracle berries is much easier than weeding sweet potatoes.

5-I know how to give a lizard CPR. His name is Riccardi.

6-DO NOT be an intruding duck in Bishop Doyle's yard.

7-Sitting in your car at the beach is not worth the change of scenery.

8-The cat felt like a peach.

9-Sonic boom + fire alarm = "we gotta get out of here!" -Sister Cook

10-We did not get evacuated for Hurricane Elsa.

I love you all! Find a way to share the gospel this week! I believe in you!
