We had to switch the fish

May 17, 2021

Hello everybody!

This last week was so crazy! Super cool miracle of the week is that we have lessons with THREE new people this week and one of them was at church yesterday! It is amazing watching how the Lord is preparing people to receive the message of the restored gospel. So please pray the lessons go well this week so we can help three more people come closer to Christ! Woot woot!

We had a lesson this week where we focused on trust and especially trust in God. I love this scripture in Alma 36:3

"And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day."

My favorite thing to do is put my name, or whoever I am talking to, in for Helaman. As I do that it makes me think about the ways that I build my trust in God and how do I put my trust in Him. I think a lot of it comes through the simple things: prayer, fasting, scripture reading. Anything that helps me to better gain a relationship and understanding of His plan for me. Life is never easy, and the mission is no different. Having trust in God helps me to have the reassurance that He is going to be my support and with me through my trials. That is something I feel like every person should know! I am grateful for the experiences that have helped me to learn that!

We also had the awesome opportunity to help with a stake mission prep class yesterday. Our mission President came and talked to the youth. We focused on the Spirit and how important it is in missionary work. When we have the Spirit with us, we can be led to those who are prepared and we can know what we should share. A few of us missionaries got to share experiences from our missions, and there are so many miracles that none of us can take credit for, it is all the Spirit! They also talked to the youth about how our missions don't start when we are called and don't end when we get home, we are missionaries wherever we are in life and we all have the chance to receive revelation. It was a pretty powerful meeting.

10 things to be learned from this week

1- I am the best companion because I ate Sister Pinkham's fish.

2- Chick-fil-a is an answer to prayer.

3- I can make FOUR free throws in a row. Pretty good, I know.

4- Laying sod is only fun when your district is around and pizza is promised.

5- Spirituality is my strongest value.

6- Sister Purdon is going to teach me how to beat her in chess.

7- They might not grow real big, but we planted flowers at our house!

8- S'more brownies aren't great. S'more Oreos also aren't great.

9- Arepas are so easy to make and Sister Guitian is really good at it!

10- Mini waffles are way better than regular sized waffles.

I love you all and I hope you have a great week!
