I only know half of the First Vision
Jan 25, 2021
Hello everybody!
I hope you are all doing great!!This last week started off with interviews with President Ashcraft. It is pretty impressive considering he has just about 230 missionaries in the Orlando mission right now! Most of the time I spent with him we talked about how I have been adjusting. I am glad to say, I am doing pretty good!
On Tuesday, we had two lessons that we taught the Restoration in. It is such a special lesson to teach. People get to learn that they have a loving Heavenly Father, a Savior, and the gospel has been restored through Joseph Smith. It is so special and the Spirit is always so strong!! As part of it, we always quote the First Vision using Joseph Smith's own words. One of the families we taught asked if we could do it in Japanese, and thankfully, Sister Crandell and I always recite it in Japanese at the start of our language study, so we were able to do it. One day during language study, we were like "how about one of us say one word and the other person say the next word" We thought it would be interesting to see how fast we could get it. Only problem, I only know half of the words now! Not really, but it has been fun. We also did it with Sister Clark in English and it is way harder with 3 people. I love the First vision so much and I love that no matter what language it is in, it still brings a powerful Spirit. This week I had a personal goal of only saying gratitude prayers whenever I said a personal prayer. I was amazed to see how many things there are to be grateful for. It also helped me to change my perspective on how to pray. Rather than saying "Please help me to find those ready to hear the gospel" I would say "I am grateful to know there are people ready to hear the gospel and that I will be guided to those people" More than anything, it helped me to strengthen my testimony of things I know. I have started to make a list of similar things. There are so many things that we can be grateful!! When I am grateful, I find that I am a lot more capable of seeing God's hand in my life and recognizing the blessings I do have.
This is officially the end of my very first transfer!! It has gone by so fast and I have learned so much. Sadly, Sister Clark is getting transferred to a different area. I have loved having her as one of my trainers this transfer! We won't be getting a new companion, so it is just going to be me and Sister Crandell! It is going to be so fun and we are so excited to keep the work going here in Narcoossee!!I hope you all have a good week and find things to be grateful for!!!
