It's a Great Day!

November 21, 2020

Hello everybody!

This week was one for the books!

To start off, my district's new saying has become "It's a great day to be a missionary!" Whenever someone looks down or is having a hard time focusing on Japanese, we let them know it's a great day to be a missionary! It has honestly become so helpful. I have loved doing the MTC online, but it isn't always the easiest thing. I have become so grateful for each missionary in my district. We can always count on someone saying something so wild, like when Morgan Chourou started to do the Christian rap, that it brightens our whole online classroom.

We had a class focused on the Atonement of Christ this week, and it was one of the most powerful lessons I have ever been a part of. We did a silent lesson, so no one was allowed to talk during the lesson, and the Spirit was able to be so strong. I went into the lesson with a love for the Atonement, and after the lesson, I had a much stronger appreciation for it. Christ was so willing to do the hardest thing for each one of us. He wanted us to experience the joy that comes when we repent. What made the lesson that much more powerful, was when we started discussing why bad things happen to good people. I believe one of the reasons we go through our trials is so that we can feel empathy and love towards those who go through similar trials. We are able to relate and begin to understand how they are feeling. We may even be able to help them overcome those trials. We all realized that Christ, the perfect example of a good person, went through the hardest experience. Not only did He go through it, but He chose to go through it! He volunteered! That is one of my favorite parts about Christ's Atonement. Not only did He suffer for our sins so we can repent, He suffered for our pains so that He may know how to help us. He is the one that understands perfectly how we feel, and He is the one that knows how to perfectly heal us. I am so grateful for my Savior and for His eternal gift that He gave to me so willingly. I have felt its power, and I know that when you turn to Christ, you can feel its power, too.

President Nelson also gave his message of hope this week! If you haven't watched it, please go and watch, it is so good! I love the focus that he put on gratitude. I know even in these hard times there is always something to be grateful for.
